WHO ARE THE MAJESTICS?
The LHS Majestics dance team kicked off its inaugural season during the 2007 - 2008 school year. Under the direction of Fela Lowrance, the Majestics began their journey.
In March of 2007, 14 girls were selected to represent the classy new high school dance team. Uniforms were ordered, summer camp was planned and the Majestics were on their way to stepping in line and preparing for an exciting first year.
On Thursday, September 6, 2007, the Majestics dance team made its half-time debut. The girls were sensational and the audience was impressed by their class, discipline and performance. Four more home games filled the early fall schedule for the Majestics and the team perfected high kicks as well as dance technique to dazzle the home town audience. Later that year, the girls prepared a Spring Show.
Today, the excitement continues for the Majestics Dance Team. The program has grown and adapted to the demands of a Varsity dance program. With dance officers and social officers auditioning for leadership positions and the upperclassmen role modeling the expectations of a dedicated and committed Majestic, the team is motivated to reach for new heights. Studying dance with local and nationally known choreographers, as well as exploring dance movement to develop their own style, the Majestics are competitive dancers and performers. In addition to performance, the Majestics choose to pursue excellence in academics and many are driven leaders across campus. The bar of expectation is set high for the young ladies who aspire to be a Majestic.
Both the team and its Booster Club annually raise funds via two fantastic community 'Mini Majestic' events. The Evening with the Majestics is held during a LHS Leopard home football game and the first weekend in December has been the established Saturday for the Mini Majestics Dance Camp. Both fundraisers are extended to girls in K - 5th grades. These activities are becoming an exciting tradition for the organization in hopes of extending friendships to our younger Lovejoy students and fostering a love for dance and drill team among our community.
To further support the Majestics and their endeavors, a Crown Sponsorship program was established by the Majestics Booster Club in 2008. If you are inspired to support the growth of dynamic young women through an extra-curricular organization that encourages young ladies to "Be Majestic", we hope you will consider joining our list of esteemed sponsors.
